Parent Skill Building result in positive outcomes in the areas of: increased parental competence, increased parental positive attitude towards their children, reduction of parental stress, decreased depressive feelings, and a reduction in partner conflicts .

The Petrus Psychology Parenting group gives parents information about various aspects of parenting, including:

  • the different domains of child development (cognitive, emotional and relational),
  • varied approaches to positive parenting (effective discipline, positive communication, establishing structure and boundaries),
  • conflict resolution,
  • problem solving.

We give parents the tools to help their children in the domains of:

  • flexibility,

The Petrus Psychology Parenting group is designed to help you successfully navigate the awesome responsibilities of child rearing.  Parents serve as a role model and mediator, and thereby can promote positive therapeutic changes. In this class you will receive information on child and adolescent development, parenting styles and approaches, and skill building for dealing with your specific parenting struggles. Our goal is to offer you a solid foundation in child and adolescent development, along with concrete strategies that allow you to implement what you learn within your home and community.
